I'm reading Relic, the first Pendergast novel. Wondering if anyone else has read the books and what they think about them. It's very similar to Michael Crichton's techno-thriller writing style.
NO SPOILERS PLEASE!

I liked Relic a lot. I did not like Cemetery Dance very much.
I have a hard time with these books...they are enjoyable sure... but... there is something slightly ridiculous about them. I listen to them on audio, if i was reading them i don't think i have continued. That's my 2 cents.
I've read them and I liked most of them. I just finished their latest "Wheel of Darkness" and it was a good one.
I read a book by those two guys, Mount Dragon. It was OK.
I read em. I liked all a lot but the last one. The last one was 'just ok'. Also read Mount Dragon. I think that it was the first one I read. Also liked Thunderhead.
I totally love love the Douglas Preston and Lincoln Child colaboration. The Relic particually is a top favourite of mine.I also enjoyed a lot "Reliquary" - another Pendergast novel and something like a sequel to the Relic.
Since I read these two I bought another 5 or 6 Preston/Child books.A week ago I read Mount Dragon.Very good too!!!
In a word - these two can do no wrong.![]()
I finished Relic and felt like it was a superb book. I bought Reliquary, the sequel, and hope to read it sometime in the near future. I hope these Pendergast novels don't run out of gas, because so far they're very exciting.
I had a hard time with the Pendergast novels. I don't know, the recurring hero just seems too perfect. He's like Batman without the angst. I may be the only person on the planet who preferred the Relic movie to the Relic book, if only because they wrote Pendergast out of the script.
