Exclamation Creepy differences in SK books

I wonder if anyone else noticed this, especially you vollectors, but some SK novels come in more than one version. Sometimes the differences are minor, but sometimes they are HUGE. E.g., in the 2 versions of Pet Sematary I read (one British, one US, could that be an explanation?), one is definitely revised. It has most of the adverbs eliminated from dialogue attribution (if you read On Writing, you know what I'm talking about), it has some minor inconsistencies in names cleaned up, and character thoughts are much less rambling.
But the most striking example is Different Seasons. It has DIFFERENT NAMES for supporting characters, for one (like Ruth was the old Jewish guy's wife in the original, but it's apparently his daughter in my version); and it has a long, long passage in "Apt Pupil" where Tod remembers being stuck in a culvert as a kid with trucks rumbling above. Interestingly, when I tried to Google "Apt Pupil + culvert," I came upon an old review of DS from some magazine, where they said all the stories were nicely linked by this trapped-in-a-tunnel imagery, EXCEPT "Apt Pupil," which was consequently the wost of them, in the reviewer's opinion. Could it be SK read it and rewrote the work in question? Because if not, it's genuinely creepy...
Some other minor differences (that I know of) also exist in The Dead Zone, Dolores Claiborne, Christine & The Tommyknockers.

I know there are major differences between the written and audio versions of Dolores Claiborne, but I'll have to go back and see if I can spot what you mention. Interesting!

The US and UK books have different editors, so sometimes they are some differences.

Right, but would the editors change names and dates? They wouldn't, would they?

    Hi,

A couple of years ago Lilja published an excellent in depth interview with Philippa Pride, his UK editor and a hugely impressive person.

If you go to Lilja's Library in 'Links' on the main site, and go to 'archive/search', and enter 'Interview with Philippa Pride' you should find it.

    Long days and pleasant nights

Oh, just remembered another one: in Pet Sematary, one version has "Huey Lewie & the News belting out 'Working For A Living' on the radio," the other (another?) has "the Ramones belting out 'Rockaway Beach.'" The second version also has the Ramones' "Hey ho, let's go" as an epigraph to Part 2 (I think), while the 1st one does not.
