One of my least favorite as well. Recently, my wife picked up a nice hardcopy of it on sale and I decided to give it a second chance after all these years. It was a no go, I gave up on it at about that same tumor point.

While I didn't have a hard time getting into and finishing it, it is one of my least favorites. When you have little empathy (as I did) for the characters, a nove is hard to enjoy.
I found it very hard to read too, in fact I put this one down and read two others in full. I still think it's worth finishing although not one of my favourites
I couldn't put it down, and didn't find it slow. Like every story by King, I got sucked into the first sentence, and they're impossibe to let go. The Dark Half isn't any different. In fact, it's probably one of his best. I can't understand why some remain so aversed to the novel.
I this is abe
good scary movie
i like the part of the story about the writer life
I had a little trouble with The Dark Half when I first got it. I seemed to struggle about a third of the way through and couldn't get going again. I put it down, read a couple of other books and then tried again. The second time I had no problems and thoroughly enjoyed it. I can only guess that I just was not in the right frame of mind to read it on the first attempt. I have read it a few times since and highly recommend it.
I'm now about halfway through it, and while I'm not struggling to read it, I don't find myself enjoying it as much as SK's other novels. I can't really empathize with Thad and his wife, or any of the main characters. In fact, Alan and George Stark seem to be the only 'real' characters I can relate to, and I don't like the idea of relating to a serial killer or the bad guy.
I'm going to keep on reading, but it's more out of boredom rather than any real interest.
Dark Half start very slow. But then it start to getting better.
It might not rank up there with his most engaging novels, but I thought it was still a damn good read, and the premise was pretty unique at the time. (The sparrows are flying!!)
The last 100 pages makes up for the first 300. I just finished it, and it's a mindblowing ending, quite possibly one of the best SK endings I've read. I never expected that coming!
I think it's just a hard novel to get into, but when you finally 'get it', then it becomes engaging. I tended to hate Thad even more as the novel went on, though, although I also felt sorry for him.
