Exclamation The Dark Tower Finale (spoiler alert)

I found a 1989 Signet first printing of The Dark Tower: The Gunslinger at a local bookstore. In the afterward SK is writing about the coming of the story and others to follow (remember that this is the pre-edited one) and how it might end. He writes:

I do know this: at some point, at some magictime, there will be a purple evening (an evening made for romance!) when Roland will come to his dark tower, and approach it, winding his horn.... and if I should ever get there you'll be the first to know.
So wouldn't it make sense that now that Roland has the Horn of Eld back that this is his final journey?

Maybe having the Horn Of Eld is the final element of the puzzle and this will be his last cycle. Maybe there are other elements he needs to set right before he can reach the final repetition. Most members of the board want to believe that next time will be the last time, but I personally doubt it, I think there's a lot more that he has to get right before he can escape from his tape loop -- going back even further in his past than the battle where he lost the Horn Of Eld.

    We all float down here.

Wow, that was beautiful! Thanks for that quote. Are you sure that you have a first edition hardcover Gunslinger? Do you realize how rare that is?
I know I just met you, but don't take offense if I say I'm extremely jealous!! I search thrift stores and used book stores all the time, and have found quite a few first editions, but OMG I think I would have peed myself if I saw that!
As for your question, I really can't say if the journey with the horn will now be his last. I guess it's up to every readers imagination to decide that.

Unforuently it's not a hardcover, it's paperback but I bought it so I could read the first edition before he made the changes.

You can download our Guide to Identifying First Editions for information. It's on the right side of the page in the section titled Other Resources.

Well, yeah, that'd make sense, 'cause Childe Roland had the horn when he came to the Dark Tower. That's the only difference between Roland and Childe Roland, Childe Roland had his horn Roland Deschain didn't.
