    Default Anyone read the Strain

By Guillermo Del Toro and Chuck Hogan?

Pretty solid book and a departure from the now a days vampire as some haunted lover sort of book.

Good review on the back that says sometimes the Vampire genre gets stale and it takes someone like Stephen King (or some other author I cant remember) to jumpstart it.

I'm surprised there wasn't more discussion of this book. I loved it! The second book "The Fall" was just as exciting and frightening to read. The final book "The Night Eternal" is due out at the end of this month (the 25th?). Cannot wait!!!

I think the "Twilight" series was a written by a concerted effort of North Central Positronics in order to kill the vampire genre altogether and the author may be working for them. Here's hoping Mr. King does something to make the prim recede and get the genre back. Werewolf books took a hit also from this series but as long as Kate Beckinsale keeps wearing those tight outfits in "Underworld" movies me thinks the genre has hope.

No, but after reading the excerpt, I really want to read the whole thing.

I read The Andromeda Strain by Michael Crichton. Does that count?
