    Default Idea for a sequel

I suddenly got this idea for a sequel to The Mist. It might follow the ending of the movie a little closer than the book, but it's probably suitable for both.

What if David kind of blamed the monsters in the mist for killing his whole family and decided to join the army to fight them. The army (as we see in the movie) is already fighting them, and they probably need any help they can get. The monsters just keep pouring out of the dimension rift and they decide to send a special team to enter the other world and fight the monsters on their own land.

Another scenario could be if David and probably a group of people (to make the movie more interresting) was accidentally sent there and couldn't return for some reason. Then he (or they) had to fight their way around to find some way to get back home.

It could either be a really messed-up, horrible, bad B-movie or it could be done right and be kind of like "Aliens"...an action-horror movie with A-list actors and director.

I'm absolutely no writer (probably the worst ever) and this is my first ever idea for any type of story. But what do you think? Iif it's done right, I think it could be pretty entertaining.

Put in some funny action sequences and a lot of gore and suspence and you've got yourself a nice little action-horror flick

Sounds about Hollywood's level, these days. And that's not really a good thing.
IMO, and it might just be me, that idea misses a few points. The Mist has more nuances, i.e. where were the creatures really from? What if Mrs Carmody was at least partly right? and I don't really like the message going onto their turf offers - it's too 'We don't care where you're from; it's ours and we'll take it from you'.
Besides, looking at the creatures in The Mist, I wouldn't want to go anyplace they came from even at battalion strength and in the sturdiest APC I could find!

Take The Mist connection away, and you do have an interesting enough premise (sort of like Dean Koontz's Seize the Night, taken to a modern film degree). But, again IMO, as a sequel to The Mist it would have missed a few points and tbh it's something I doubt SK would endorse, much less write (though I could be wrong!).

Hehe like I said, I must be the worst writer ever :-)

I agree with everything you said, but being realistically, my version could unfortunately be the one Hollywood would produce. They wouldn't care as much for the story if they only had a lot of entertainment. Too bad...

I wanted to write my own screenplay based on The Mist (but with less characters, and the military part taken out), and a sequel too..but my sequel would have based on King's version, not Darabont's. Darabonts ending was poor. My version would have revolved around a different character who was left behind at the grocery store, and their attempt(s) to escape.

I loved Darabont's finale. My favorite part of the entire film.

As for a sequel? Um, no. I'd let it stand on its own.
