In a social group people have been talking about favorite foods that they no longer make or that have different flavors than the past. Does anyone have any favorite foods when they were younger that they no longer make?

Rice Krispies Treats and Peanut Butter Fudge 'scuse me while I wipe the drool off my chin![]()
My mother used to make a great jelly roll. During the process, the edges of the cake that she used for the roll would get really crispy. She'd trim them off before applying the jelly and give them to me. No one else has been able to duplicate 'em.
I love the fudge that Mom would always make around the Holidays, not sure how to explain it, but it isn't like fudge you buy at most candy shops. It would be thin and not creamy. We called it old-fashioned fudge or Cocoa fudge. I love that stuff.
Someone was speaking of their Mom's Jelly Roll. We used to have a family-run bakery that made Jelly Cakes, same ingredients I would wager, but it was a big flat cake. Oh, so moist and just enough jelly for a little twang and sprinkled lightly with powdered sugar. We used to pick up the phone and have these cakes delivered all over the country to remind our friends and family of what they were missing at home.
The family has since sold the bakery to a 'national' group who dropped the jelly cakes from the menu all together.![]()
When I was little, my sister and I would sneak into our neighbors yard and steal their plums. (Yes, we were plum smugglers!!!!!) They were so delicious!!! They tasted like childhood!!!!! Now we'll go to the store to get fruit and search for that particular kind, but have yet to find it!
We did the same thing! There was a plump little Chinese man who lived four blocks down, and he had fruit trees in his yard, surrounded by a chain-link fence. We were usually able to grab one piece of fruit each before his back door would fly open and he'd come out, screaming in Chinese. We'd be screaming and laughing at the same time, high-tailing it over that fence.
Nice memories.
A food that I miss from childhood are those little turkey and gravy boil-in-a-bags that my mom would buy. When my brother and I were hungry, we'd take one out of the freezer, throw it in a pot of boiling water, and wait 5 minutes (I think). We'd pour it over two slices of soft white Bunny bread covered in Blue Plate mayo.I'm drooling a little thinking about it!
Jelly Tots! I loved those little candies.
It never ever really mattered to me what I eat as long as it fills me up.
My wife says she is the happiest women in the world, I never complain about the food and never have any special requests.
Whatever is on the table looks good to me, whether it`s two boiled eggs and a sandwich or some super spectacular meal prepared by the recipe of some world famous chef.
