The House of the Spirits

Anyone read it here? I have to read it for a class I'm taking, so I was just wondering if anyone had any thoughts on it. I'm only 40 pgs in and as of yet - it's alright, but too early to judge.

While I really enjoy Isabel Allende's writing, The House of the Spirits was a bit hard for me in comparison with her other works. It's just a bit slow at time and full of omens and despair, but the story is a good one (Allende's real strength is in storytelling), so keep it up and I doubt it if you'll be disappointed.
