    Default The Unfound Door

    Hello Everyone,
I'm new here. Constant reader for a few years now. I just recently finished reading IT and am working through DT for the 2nd time . I remember at the end of IT, while under Derry, someone stumbled upon the "Unfound" door. What is the significance of this as it relates to the Dark Tower? Any ideas?

They came across a door but I do not think it was the "Unfound Door" of the Dark Tower series.

Hmm....Maybe that's something I just dreamed up in my Dark Tower obsessed mind. I actually found my copy IT today, and quickly glanced through the pages looking for that scene in particular. You're absolutely right, the door is marked with some kind of marking, but they never come outright and say what the meaning is.

I just finished reading that part in IT. It says the door has a symbol on it and is about 3 feet tall. Interesting.

The symbol on the door appeared different to each person observing it, in much the same way It would appear in different guises based upon the fear it pulled from their minds. I expect that the symbol was merely another part of It, not unlike the countless other lesser parts. They symbol was gone when It was gone.

It's a nice idea - that connection, but I really don't want to spoil the DT series for you by discussing it before you've read it all. Let's talk again when you're done...

To be more specific in the chapter of the ritual of chud it reads:"There was a mark on the door, and heaped at its foot was a pile of bones.Small bones. The bones of God only knew how many children. They had come to the place of It.The mark on the door, then:What is That?" Directly after this sentence is a picture of an oriental character that looks kinda like a F with a hat. Each character did see this as his or her greatest insecurity or fear ie Bills saw a paper boat,Richie saw a pair of glasses covering eyes,Ben saw a pile of old candy wrappers,Bev saw a fist, and henry bowers sees a black moon. Each of these vision is a representation of the individuals fear or more accurately a representation of how It portrays Itself to the children so yea it does seem that this symbol is the actual written embodiment of It.Now does anybody have an idea of what the symbol is?

That same Symbol is also seen in Insomina and also in Under the Dome. In Insomina is is on Ed's scarf and in Under the Dome it is on the machine which powers the dome.
