Default Trying to finish the library of SK works.

Hello, I made the decision to go back and finish all of SK's works that I may have missed in my younger years. I have made a big dent in 2009 since I made this decision, but am now at a crossroads. I only have a handful left and was hoping to get some feedback as to what order I should complete the remaining major novels I have. Thanks in advance for the advice.

    Remaining SK Novels:
    Carrie
    Firestarter
    Christine
    Cycle of the Werewolf
    Rose Madder
    Storm of the Century
    The Plant

As an aside, I have now completed all the RB-penned books.

    Hi,

Welcome to the MB, and keep posting!

You can of course read and enjoy them in any order, but I would suggest that you approach them in chronolgical order, starting with Carrie (see main site for full details).

    Long days and pleasant nights

i guess that is the most logical way to do it. Just didn't know if there was a potential grouping that made sense. For instance, if a couple of them were very similar, I may want to split them up and not read back to back (or maybe I would depending on the flow). I ran into this with The Regulators and Desperation, and am glad that I read them back to back - those books are very complimentary to each other.

I second that. Although I always find it best to pick them up in my hand and see which one calls out my name the loudest...

You should definitely read The Plant first, no question about it in my mind, that's the one to start with. Don't let anyone tell you different.

amazingly enough I did this last night before seeing your message, and even more amazing is that I decided to go with the collection of short stories in 'Night Shift'. I've obviously seen the movies based on a couple of the stories in the book, but I have never read them.

I have the paperback of this book that includes the SK forward from 1977. The forward is actually an amazing read in its own right - its great to hear a 30-year old King talk about the hows and whys of horror genre writing.

I'm actually beginning the journey of reading all of his books, in the last month or so I've made a good headway on it (almost ten books now). I've got a random order to reading them, if you wanted to know. Right now I'm readin Lisey's Story, and I've recently heard it's King's new favorite so I'm excited about that.

Just wanted to make myself know, see if you had any input.

    Ah... the elusive PLANT.

I know you're able to get it through The Office on the main site. Other than that? If you know a different way, let me know! I'm still on prehistoric dial-up and can't access The Office.
