Default How do you envision the characters?

You know how our minds develop pictures of the characters in a story. Sometimes they're based on what we've already seen on TV and such. Here's how I envision some of the characters--

Roland-- kind of like Viggo Mortinson's portrayal of Aragorn from Lord of the Rings, but with no beard of course. Sure, Roland's older, but gunslingers are sexy nonetheless.

Jake-- the cute "I see dead people" kid from Sixth Sense

Susannah-- Like the older sister from Good Times.

I don't have a clear comparison for Eddie. He's kind of nondescript in his good looks, like this guy I used to date way back in the day.

    How about you all?

If we could time machine enable the film then sure, Clint Eastwood. That's who he's supposed to be.

If we're talking actual casting, Daniel Day-Lewis. Long, tall, and ugly. He's got the green eyes. I always thought of Dune when Roland got all intense and his eyes glowed. I think they could easily cg the eyes. Plus you've got this fantastic actor.

Then I could play Eddie. lol

I am a little worried how they're going to handle Susannah's leglessness and Rolands missing fingers and toes. I say drop em.

I've always pictured Eastwood (in his prime) for Roland. That one is pretty easy.

I think Ed Norton would make a good Eddie. He could cover all of Eddie's many characteristics.

Susannah - Alfre Woodard. I can easily picture her in gunslinger mode. Or Regina King would be good too. Maybe she gets the nod based on her name

My daughter and I have played this game for years. We had a whole list (that I have sadly since lost.)

It's impossible for me to imagine anyone but Eastwood as Roland, although I have tried.

Ed Norton would be an excellent Eddie. We also thought of Mark Wahlberg.

I picked Jada Pinkett Smith for Susannah. She seems bad-assed.

Now I'll be scouring ImDb for hours. *sigh*

not to nitpick, but.......Rolands eyes are blue, check Drawing of the Three, when he comes forward through Eddie in the airplane bathroom. The only reason I noticed that is because i"m currently re reading that one....yup, it's official, I have no life, nitpicking the fellow DT nerds....oy

I would not dismiss that at all. I think neeson should be given a VERY hard look when they are tring to cast Roland
