Default Which death of a character affected you most?***spoilers***

We are all aware that anything can happen to any character in SK novels especially the death of one or more of the people that you identify with, root for or just plain love. Then down comes the hammer and that person is gone (unless they turn into a vamp etc )

If this thread makes it and people reply then i suggest you type the name of the novel first for anyone that hasn't read that book so they can remain spoiler free. For me it is...
    THE DARK TOWER----HERE BE SPOILERS!!!!!

After reading the series one by one as they gradually appeared on the book shelves i felt like part of the journey. I laughed with them, cried with them and after closing the cover of the final book my journey ended. So who among the group did i mourn the most??

It was Oy. Call me an old softy but i got a bit misty when Oy lost Jake and then marched on to his brave little death. Reminded me of the two dogs i've lost in my own life journey.

This I have to agree with. You knew it was coming and didn't want it to happen but...

I'd have to opt for the death of Johnny Smith at the end of The Dead Zone. It was pretty obvious for quite a large chunk of the story that he was deteriorating without hope, so it hardly came as a surprise. But sometimes you just hope that somehow the doomed hero can pull through against the odds.

I said in another thread recently that Johnny was the SK character that I associated most closely with, so his demise, although inevitable, was still very sad to me.

I think the character that had the most effect on me when they died was Eddie, he had been through so much and had come out of the other side a richer and wiser person, I had to get the tissues out for that one!!

The 2nd one was definitely when Tad and Cujo died. I felt so sorry for them both as neither had any control over what happened.

Since the potential for spoilerization is already a moot point by earlier posts:

"The bumbler did not bite, and spoke but one word. 'Olan,' said he. Then he sighed, licked the gunslinger's hand a single time, hung his head down, and died."

I cried. I'm not ashamed to admit that I'm crying now.

To date, the death that struck me the hardest was Jake when he sacrificed himself to save SK. I cried so much I had to stop reading because I couldn't make out the words on the page any longer. A close second (very close, almost indiscriminate) was the death of Oy.

Well poo, I'm misting up now just remembering these.

Okay guys - you're starting me off again, I cried for all these characters and just being reminded has set me off again, most people who know me think I have a swinging brick instead of a heart, am a cold blooded career gal, etc, so it would kill me street cred if they knew this, lol!!

Larry Underwood and Glen in The Stand. Their death felt.... Well sorry, but it felt pointless. Couldn't the bomb be delivered without their presence? What sacrifice was it and to what end?

Keep in mind I come from a long bloodline of Dying for Your Country, and a nation which scrutinizes "Going like Sheep to Slaughter", so I am a bit touchy on this one.

And my sorrow for all The DT characters that were lost was somewhat eases by the end of the 7th book.

Although it wasn't completely a surprise, I was upset when Mattie died in Bag of Bones. I had a similar reaction when they killed Henry Blake off in MASH--they didn't have to KILL him!

I've always felt bad when the dad in Firestarter dies, although my top was Oy
