I saw the movie first and it kind of annoyed me so I never read the book. I mean I watch movies with a total suspension of belief so am pretty forgiving.
But mate, Creed was a frigging doctor. He should have figured it wasn't going to work AFTER THE CAT. It fell into the genre I hate of stories about smart people that should know better doing really stupid things.
It would have made more sense if he was Jordy Verrill (the character King played in Creepshow).
Did the book make any more sense of the "why"?
I actually like the second movie though. Makes more sense, and you could understand why they did it (eg, kids trying to avoid trouble for starters), and had a good sense of mischief about it. I really like that film.
