Man, if you didn't like the ending of Talisman you are going to absolutely hate the way Black House ends.

I already forgot what happened with Richard, and I only read the book maybe 6 months ago... i remember he was in horrible shape and came to the hotel with Jack, but then what? i didn't see anything wrong with the ending. I thought it fit perfectly
I enjoyed the whole book & maybe the ending wasn't what I expected or wanted, but many of SK's books end that way for me. Sometimes things turn out good, sometimes he has them turn out bad, & somtimes things are just left hanging, leaving only the future to look forward to. Sometimes, (for me), wondering is better than actually having a definite ending because that is more like real life. SK has ended quite a few stories like that & I've appreciated all of them.
I didnt love it, I didn't hate it. I think it contained closure and ended the story.
I thought the ending was perfect! Like the Mark Twain summation, it's hard to know where to end a story of a 12-year-old boy. No, we don't find out what happened to Richard and Jacky and Lily together. But after Jack's amazing adventure would we really want to know the details of where they chose to live and if Jack and Richard go to public school or private?
When I went to see the first Lord of the Rings movie, I was struck by how everyone said "that's not an ending!" of course not, it's only part of a series. The same thing with the Twilight movies (yes, I've read the books and seen the movies, I'm not a fanatic about them, but they were good reads). The Talisman, while it was published some time ago, is part of a series. A true ending with all the bits and pieces picked up and neatly tucked away would, IMHO, not leave us wanting more and wondering what Jack is doing now.
