Default The King's office in Boulder

Does anyone know exactly where the King's office in downtown Boulder was? I know the Kings rented a house at 330 S. 42nd St. in Boulder, but several reports say this is not where he wrote THE SHINING. The house was small and chaotic, so he rented a room downtown where he wrote THE SHINING and part of THE HOUSE ON VALUE STREET (later THE STAND).

Does anyone know where this room/office downtown was? I'm headed to Boulder next week and would love to check it out.

I'm not sure the address has ever been published anywhere. All I know is that he leased office space in a boarding house where he could look out the window at the Flatiron Mountains.

Why does it seem like the info of his time in Boulder is so secretive? I understand wanting there to be a mystery about the Stanley Hotel (I think that's the hotel and im too lazy to look it up) and the Overlook in the Shining.

With a fan base as passionate as Mr Kings I'm shocked someone doesn't have a plaque up on a place that he stayed.

I do know where his office was...on Deer Valley Rd - right above by bedroom!

He rented my dad's home office, and yes he did set up next to a window facing the Flatirons. Check out the setting from "Misery" - that's how he was set up - only the window was on his left, he faced north.

His set up was a card table butted into the nw corner, an Adler/Royal manual typewritter with clean paper stock to the left and manuscript face down on the right. About the only thing on the wall was a bulletin board that eventually held the letter from Universal? - the movie studio producing "Carrie". I wish I'd had the foresight to copy that letter..."we've found a wonderful unknown actress to play the title character, her name is Sissy Spacek.." Atleast then I might have proof that he was really there. Nobody believed me at the time because he was so secretive about his time there.

He did admit to first seeing Carrie on the Best Seller rack at the King Soopers on Table Mesa where he had stopped on his walk home - they only had one car and Tabatha got it.

Well kids, there you have it...time now for plaque placement 101! But the guest list for the ribbon cutting will be God-awful...
