Unhappy Read Cujo - heartbreaking ! warning to readings spoilers!

I've just fisnihed reading Cujo & i personally really couldn't put the book down. I also loved the fact that Stephen King showed the very harsh but reality of life in which not all good things happen to people who are saints and good hearted. Now I know some people who have read the book found it completely cruel towards Vic but I honestly think that Stephen King done a excellent job at showing the world in it's truest colours and I would like to congratulate him on doing such a fine job.
I also found the book heart breaking because it truly showed what a mother would do to protect her son. I admit I'm very sensitive when it comes to reading books because I find myself so involved with the characters but this book did make me cry.

It is a great book, and the story it tells really feels... real. I too appreciate the ending. I thought any other ending would have left me wanting.

Also. I always got the impression that what was lurking in Tad's closet frightening him at night was real, the same thing behind the rabies that infected Cujo seemingly beyond even the kind of damage to a town a normal St. Bernard simply infected with regular rabies would have been able to inflict ....

I bawled so hard I couldn't read! I hated/loved the end. It was horrible and cruel that the boy died after all they went through, but, isn't that like life sometimes?

I'm going to start re-reading this book tonight-I haven't read it in ages. Most of it I remember but the little details are fuzzy to me. This was one of the first SK books I ever read and I just loved it. It's a good one.

This is a sad book and the ending is horrid. Does anyone recall if the movie ended the same way? It's been quite awhile since I read the book or saw the movie.

Am I the only person who's heart was breaking for the dog?? I mean don't get me wrong, i was obviously sad when the little boy died, but I couldn't help feeling so sorry for Cujo all the way through. I think it says alot about SK's writing that he can even make me feel sorry for a murderous dog!! It was the way he had the little parts from Cujo's point of view. Very very sad :-(

    Hi,

No, you're by no means the only person - 'Cujo always tried to be a good dog'!

    Have you read Blaze?

    Long days and pleasant nights
