Default What is one of the weirdest questions asked of SK during a booksigning?

I was at a signing last Saturday, and I met many very nice, really interesting people. While there I was asked a number of questions, some sensible questions and some not so much. (one asked if I'd write her autobiography because God told her too)
So now I'm wondering, what are some of the weirder things fans have asked the great Sai during a book signing? I bet he's got some whoppers

Welcome to our world! We can always tell when a fan letter is going to go into the "looney file" when the writing goes from one edge of the paper to the other and there are a lot of doodles. As for the strangest book signing question, I'd have to ask him as he doesn't usually talk much about the book signings and I don't remember him ever mentioning any strange fan requests.

Ooo, I've gotten one or two of those. One was from a prisoner who got far more out of a short story than was intended. He wanted to spend 'several lifetimes with me.'
I think I hid in the closet after that.
I can imagine what SK gets on a given day.

I remember sending to the hospital a letter written on a Get Well card after Steve's accident, I wrote a lot on that card, I wasn't sure if he was going to die or not.
Then there was the gigantic birthday card I sent one year with all sorts of fans screen names. I included a really cool peace sign magnet. I wonder if he ever received that? I hope i'm not in the file!

oh yea, and didn't a woman once ask him to sign her pregnant belly in NYC?

I dunno, I think that would be kind of neat (as the signee; not sure how I would feel about signing someone else's belly). I mean, it's such a rare thing, along the lines of saying "I built an entire house out of popsicle sticks and Mighty Mendit." Who else is going to have that?

Stuff like this makes me understand why some authors are very reclusive...

Just a thought: how were you meant to write said lady's autobiography? Surely if you wrote it, it's just be a biography. Or do I need a new dictionary?

I figured she meant ghost writing. I could be wrong, though. I am wrong on a fairly regular basis.

I'm just quoting the lady. She wanted me to ghost write it for her.
So technically yes, it'd still be a biography.

Yes, she wanted me to ghost for her. I don't ghost and I don't do tag team writing...at least not any more...I did a couple of collaborations but I'd really rather write alone.
I started to tell her it'd be 2500 dollars plus 8% of the royalties, but decided to be nice and directed her to the writer's market in the reference section instead.

Hey, Im not a cheap date.
