Default I'm stuck on this one...

Can someone give me reason to finish this book (without spoiling it for me). I've had it for years and never picked it up till now, I'm about 60 pages in and I just cannot get into it. Normally by time im 60 pages in to a Stephen King novel I don't want to do anything else untill it's finished, but this one just isn't doing it for me... had the same problem with Lisey's Story. I have read 95% of King's work, and these are the only 2 books that i've had this problem with.

You paid money to buy it!

As a Scotsman, that's all the reason I would need!

Unless you just really need to finish off his current collection of novels, letting "Gerald's Game" stay on the shelf won't hurt. "Lisey's Story," though, is a must. I'd never recommend it to a first-time Kinger, but you're not one of those...suspend your disbelief and slowly wade in, the water is quite pleasant.

Its not very long but it gets much better later on. Then slows down alot at the end. But the bulk of the book is really good. keep trucking away at it. You wont be dissapointed

have you read it yet? here's a reason to read it: imagine yourself in a situation where you are stuck. having read gerald's game, you are inspired to free yourself, thus saving your life. if you don't read it, you remain stuck there, maybe the pay phone hidden in the corner of the airport terminal up in numchuck, alaska, yeah, sure, it grabbed your finger whilst you probed for errant quarters, and the local fauna isn't about to help, something about the cahoolawasee river they want to immitate, or something.

If it helps you get into this book I'm willing to share my experiences with Geralds Game! I first read it as a late teen and couldn't believe how it stoked my imagination....to the point where when she considers her last option for escape and puts it into action...when I finished that chapter and sat to think about it my visual imagination kicked in and I found myself passed out on the floor...until recently I had dismissed the incident but upon reading the book for a second time...and fainting for a second time (no not a medical condition..lol...bout 12yrs between reads!)...be patient...live the character as she is written...get in her mind with King...and keep a soft spot to land on close by....enjoy!

Shirley you must be joking! Passing out after reading a passage? Hmmmm.

Oh and finish Gerald's Game, you cannot call yourself a King fan if you don't! lol I thought it was one of his creepier ones!

If u have not finished it I recommend it. I dont consider King's books that gruesome. To me they just eat at everyday fears and what ifs. King makes the what ifs come true. So I am not easily grossed out but to this day when I think of King books that grossed me out Gerald's Game is it.

Yeah, just finished this one last night, everything everyone is saying is true; I was captivated by the imagery of this book, and the idea of the eclipse was really awesome
but I was like you, at first it was slow going on this book, couldn't get that much into it, but once I got going I was eager to read more and more into this dark story
