Personally, I felt the movie was true-to-form insomuch as it did reflect the short story fairly well. The only complaint I would have about this movie was the choppy form of the relationship between the man and the woman -- pretty cheap here, looks like the director didn't care too much for lovers in this story. And, to be honest, I can understand if that were the case. I think a better direction would have been to make the giant rat much more terrifying in appearance and given it more screen time. The guy who played the exterminator -- been a long while since I've seen the movie -- was a great actor choice, though
