As a graduate student studying Mental Health this book really appealed to me. I know it's more of a scary/supernatural thing but it was right up my alley. The character of Jack Torrance was very compelling right up to the end. The whole time I was pulling for him to overcome the dark forces of the overlook and take the Torrance family to safety.
Some key thoughts that stuck out to me was how accepting Wendy was to Danny's ability of reading thoughts and how conscious she was of it. It was frustrating that Jack was the complete opposite. Just admit you freaking saw the woman in room 217 or the that the hedges really moved, HE KNOWS!!! lol.
This was fairly quick read for me and I really love how King portrayed the characters of Halloran and Danny. The ending was so exciting as I really didn't know what to expect until it was over. I thought for sure Danny would die by the hands of Mr. Torrance, or at least that Wendy or Halloran would (especially with the shed incident).
