    Question The very first book.

Just curious, what was your very first book you read by Mr. King? Mine was The Stand, (and I think I've read it twice since then). I remember being so blown away when reading and obviously I have'nt stopped since. Magical stuff! Yea!

    Hi,

Night Shift on first publication in the UK in 1978, followed in a matter of days by Salem's Lot and Carrie and everything else in order of publication.

    Magical stuff indeed!

    Long days and pleasant nights

My first wife got me into SK back at the start of our marriage, a lifetime ago, and she was desperate for me to read The Stand. However, it looked a little formidable for me, in terms of size, at the time, so I started with The Dead Zone, but I did get around to reading The Stand before too much more time had elapsed.

Today, they both retain their position amongst my very favorite SK novels, and I always speak very highly of them when anyone asks for an opinion.

As for my first wife, however, that's a different story completely!

Salem's Lot. I was 7. I read it in my closet with the doors closed at night.

It was Salem's Lot and then The Stand abridged and then unabridged then came Carrie. From then on it's been one marvelous story with wonderful characters after another. And I anxiously await, in the very best of company I might add, for the release of Under the Dome!! HOOOOHOOO

Mine was Salem's Lot. 16 years old. My teacher saw me reading it and told me I'd have nightmares but I didn't. Might've been cuz I was a slow reader then

The Stand was my first book also. I remember it very well, I had to sleep with the lights on for about a week!

Don't shoot me because I can't be very sure. I read a lot when I was young, really a lot and I think Christine was my first SK. I believe I was 11-ish. I know I was sold from the beginning. But never been scared of his books. I was a big girl!
