I have both read the novel and seen the movie(book before the movie), and I thought it was basically spot on except for a few minor parts. I admired Frank Darabont for the ending of the film because now they can't make a horrible sequel to ruin the original film(which happens with a lot of King adaptations). I liked the novel more than the movie but I thought the movie did it as much justice as it could have.

I read the story first and watched the movie the next day, I thought the ending of the story was ace as it left it up to your imagination whereas the film hammered almost the final nail in the coffin ... a bit disappointed with it but up until then it was ace ... the bit with the spiders was immense

I read The Mist. I was in the middle of the story when my husband (who was supposed to be asleep) came in the room . The book flew out of my hands and I had to stifle a scream. I liked the ending.
We went to see the movie, salivating and eager to be horrified. The movie was excellent (didn't you just hate Mrs Carmody?). The ending...was akick in the throat. We all just sat there-stunned. Loved the ending.

I always seem to prefer the books over the films but I suppose that is down to the fact that what they put into the film is no match for what is in your own head. The ending I loved (maybe not the right word....but you know what I mean), it made a change from all those other endings when just at the last minute everything turns out just fine, life is just not like that and it was good to have a film represent that.

I liked the ending because it truly went for the jugular. So few movies can get away with an ending like that. Usually by the time the focus groups and test audiences have their way with it, there are no endings like that.

I picked up the Blu Ray of this movie because it gives you the option of watching it in black-and-white instead of color. I will have to give that one a spin this month!
