Default Is there a doctor in the house?

Today I was disappointed. I had put all my hopes on seeing this psychiatrist and doing a procedure called EMDR to recall the memories of a dream in which a spirit named April showed me her death. I can only recall a few images of it and I can't recall the faces of those I think killed her. As long as she is stuck between the planes, I'm not getting any sleep and I have some pretty terrible paranormal activity going on. I need and want help with this. The psychiatrist suggested that I see a psychologist and get hypnotized. The only problem is, I can't find one in my area, I've tried. So I come to you, my new friends at the Stephen King message board hoping that either one of you is what I seek, or you know someone who does this. I am in South Eastern Massachusetts about a half hour away from Cape Cod and Providence. If anyone here knows someone who fits my description that can hypnotize me, please send me a message or put the contact information here. I really do appreciate this! All I know is this has to end. For one, I want the murdered girl to have peace, for another, if I don't get some sleep soon I'm going to go psychotic and start shooting, LOL! Also, I can't finish my book unless I resolve this situation. I think my book is key to helping people out there who experience similar phenomena and I want them to know, they are not alone. I stand for them and any other spirits who need help! Thanks guys! As always...HUGS!!

    Hi,

Well, I'm certainly not a doctor, so.....?

But I would recommend you learn some meditation techniques, which should at least help give you some peace IMO.

And the best way to do that IMO is to contact some local Buddhists.

    Just my 2c.

    Long days and pleasant nights

Believe it or not, I have a diploma in Hypnotherapy, and used to have a small-scale practice.

Unfortunately, I'm in Old England, you're in New England, so it would be a bit difficult for us to get together. But good luck with your issue. There are certainly people out there who can help.

Best of luck to you, and welcome to the MB. If you are a spiritual person, talking with someone of your faith should be of some help in bringing you peace. When looking for a therapist, seek a nonjudgmental welcoming person, even if not a psychologist. Some psychiatrists and clinical social workers and other therapists do hypnosis. And hypnosis may not be the only answer to your concern.

I'm a clinical psychologist but I'm afraid I can't help you with hypnotism. FWIW, anything you can do hypnotized you can do without it.

I may have a contact! Bless my trolling of message boards, LOL! I'll let you know if it pans out or not. I have tried meditation, but I think the biggest issue is that I didn't wake up immediately after the dream. Something seems to be blocking the information or it's just too deep in my subconscious now for me to retrieve on my own. Keep your fingers crossed and thanks so much for the help!

John is right. Relaxation techniques are very helpful when you need to remember events either in your waking or sleeping life. Also, many years ago, I was told that the subconscious is eager to work with the conscious mind. Place a writing tablet and pen or pencil by your nightstand by your bed before going to sleep at night. Or in your case, before practicing the relaxation technique. Tell your subconscious what you need to remember and be ready to write down whatever your mind reveals to you. There are tapes available. I would try Google to see what I could find. Another idea is to contact the American Medical Association. Surely such tapes have been made and are for sale by reputable psychologists. I hope this helps.

Would agree on meditation techniques. These can open up many deep seated thoughts. Plus, in a relaxed state, the desired results may more easily surface.

Have you read the book 'Unchained Memories, True Stories Of Traumatic Memories Lost And Found' by Lenore Terr MD[/WIKIPEDIA].
    Very helpful IMO.
