    Exclamation Finli O'Tego plot hole?

Hi everyone, I'm a n00b and this is my first thread. Something occurred to me about this character. If you haven't finished the dark tower series I don't recommend reading this thread. Anyway...

In Wolves of the Calla, Slightman is feeding information to a person named Finli O'Tego about the gunslingers and their plans to fight the wolves. He reports to him from the Dogan, and Jake overhears this happening. In the final book we learn who Finli O'Tego is. But he mentions nothing to his boss Pimli Prentiss about receiving reports on any of this. He says he thinks a virus wiped out the Wolves, and that any idea of gunslingers coming was a fairy tale. But he knew better, and this character would have no reason to lie to his boss. The gunslingers coming leads to his death...

In my opinion this is a fairly large plot hole in the story. What do you think?

    Hi,

Welcome to the MB, and keep posting!

I don't see it as a 'plot hole' personally, but I recommend both Robin Furth's indispensable Concordance and Bev Vincent's The Road to the Dark Tower for further reading.

    Long days and pleasant nights

Hey, thanks... and may you have twice the number.

I own a copy of Bev Vincent's book. I should pick up the other one too. I don't recall this issue being brought up in "the road" so I'll have to look that up. Do you have an explanation for this inconsistency? I have some of the dark tower audio books and it occurred to me this weekend while listening to the wolves of the calla at work.

Yes, it is indeed. I caught that myself and it's the only thing that bugs me about my favorite book in the series, DT7. If the events that occured in the Dogan near Calla Bryn Sturgess happened then (sensibly) all the forces of Blue Heaven should have been ready and waiting for the coming gunslingers.

Or at least have some reason why after receiving that information Finli acted like he didn't know the Gunslingers were coming, as if it was a myth.

I immediately delved into Tower 7 after Tower 6 because the hanger at the end of Tower 6 made the two seem like a pair. My first impression of Finli O'Tego was that he was in the know and expected Mordred to finish them off. Down the road finishing Tower 5 I believe O'Tego actually believed there was a virus because it explained his end of the transaction from the computer in Tower 5. He may have been a shmuck that wouldn't tell his boss if it ruined his good ol' boy status.

Well, the thing with Finli is that he kept his (weasley, hamsterish, ratty) eyes on the screens which spewed forth the data. The room with the computers is always to be avoided. Telemetry skewed, who knows what it spewed? We deal in lead. Blat skitty boom dead rat-head in the area. I spect he didn't want his failure in the calla to be known to the boss with the ballsa=
It occurred to me that Primli Prentiss should have had lots of accounts, because he would have been the TYPE to love collecting rent from the renters.
At least Roland set THEM all to their rights.
Poor Eddie paid the price of admission.
