Tommyknockers tour

The Bangor Daily News ran a story about the annual Tommyknockers tour operated by the Visitors Bureau in Bangor in case anyone is interested. Here's the link. I'm pretty sure, though, that the mention of the Kenduskeag Stream being the inspiration for the river in The Body is not accurate. I believe it was closer to Durham where Steve grew up. For those planning the SKMB Convention, they did mention that they will do private tours and gave a number to contact.

I found it--the inspiration for the story was based on an actual drowning in Runaround Pond in Durham in 1969. The leech story was also (loosely) based on an actual experience Steve had at Runaround Pond. In real life the leech had attached itself to Steve's navel. That's his story and I'm sticking to it!

I can imagine young Steve horrified by that, I had one myself once and it's a really nasty little situation.
