I've seen the movie (Delores), have the book, and haven't read the book yet. The movie makes me want to read the book and not want to. It's one of those situations where I assume (and we all know what that makes me) something about the book--in this case that it would be depressingly intense, or intensely depressing--which ends up not being true. I've made the same assumption per Shawshank and The Green Mile, so have not read them. Yet.
In this sense, then, I think a very good movie can still represent the original material badly.
Yep, another "best of best" movies of King's work... again, Kathy Bates rules!
I loved the book and liked the movie quite a bit. Kathy Bates is the only one that could have done this role...she was perfect. Although I do find that the scenes involving Joe's abuse of her rather hard to watch as I witnessed that between my parents as a child...she did an excellent job....I started to cry during those parts....
I agree that Kathy Bates was perfect! Not how I imagined Dolores at all, but she was fantastic in Misery, and even better in Dolores Claibourne! Little disappointed with the film in general but its not TOO bad I suppose...
I just saw the movie and it was quite good,IMO.Kathy Bates? Excellent! The plot was organized differently in the movie, with both "deaths" running more congruently through Dolores's thoughts,I guess in order to shorten the length of the movie.
Kathy Bates seems like a very strong woman who could do anything if she wanted to.I really liked how she played in Dolores Claiborne, she's a really ideal main character in this movie.I liked the way she tried to protect her children and how she fought against her husband.
I saw her in Misery, too. She's a great actress.
