Default DT: Hardcover vs. Individual Issues

I've been seriously considering purchasing the Dark Tower comics, especially since I've only got two more DT novels to read and I'm not really looking forward to ending the series. After doing some research on the series, I thought that buying the hard cover compilations would be the best way to go; all of the stories are in one volume and I can keep them on a bookshelf. But after reading some reviews on Amazon, I'm not so sure. Apparently, in the hc editions, they cut out all of the extra expository writing, some of which sound very interesting.

My question, then, is the extra information that good to warrant buying the individual issues, even though they will cost more, or am I really missing out on much by buying the omnibus?

The extra information I think is very good and an enjoyable read. But I don't know if the information is also available in the Concordance, or something. It also sometimes features some interviews with the makers of the comic. But the HC has all the different cover variants in the back of the book, plus some additional sketches. So, a true collector might opt for both. On eBay it might not be too difficult to find the individual comics for a reasonable price.

I can't remember all the prose stories, but one of them is VERY good, it tells the history of the bends of the rainbow, and why Jonas and Rhea are so evil, good stuff. I personally am going to end up with both individual comics and the hardcover version, but that's just me.

I have the hard cover editions because they're easier to keep track of and I just don't have the room for all of the comics .... knowing me, I'd have to get all of the different covers too. I think that if you want more of the story than the regular comics are the way to go.

For me, the "extra material" is the best part, and I would highly recommend the individual installments for that reason. There's a chance the other material will be collected elsewhere someday, but I don't know when.

Ok, I'm going to be honest, I have yet to read the Dark Tower books. BUT, I have got one of the Hardcover versions of the DT comics. I have been collecting the individual copies of The Stand comics. When (if) it comes out in hardcover I will be getting them too. With the DT, I am honestly leaning towards getting both. I want to collect as much SK stuff as I can afford, which I can afford these. I was glad to see this thread and I look forward to reading others opinions.

I had been buying the hardcover-until I saw this post and read about the extra information. I immediately went to a comic shop and bought all that they had in the back issues. There's a lot of extra information, and those one-shots are really cool.

i would have to get the individuals. but cost wise, its probably about the same, but
you get more story with the individuals.
