I am an avid comic collector and I have both of each. I love the individuals because of all the extra info they have in it. as time goes on thier value will increase where as the HC won't. The Hard Cover will be easier to find. where as the IC you may have to hunt around a bit to get a hold of them. the IC are well worth it in my opinion

Man those alternate covers are AWESOME. It all depends on how well you can appreciate a comic book as a stand alone work of art. if you are interested in the additional information posted in the individual comics then get 'em. I have an alt cover for the first comic released and man is it a beauty.

Some of the expository writing is very good, other pieces, like "a lot of the main bad guys are evil because a magic mirror broke way back when and they all got cut by fragments of it", I could have done without.

I prefer the hardcovers because your reading isn't constantly being interrupted by the 50 odd pages of ads in every single comic. I guess it is a continuity issue with me that I'm reading and enjoying, and *BAM!* there's an ad for the next Marvel comic right in the middle, or, just as bad, an ad for a Stephen King book!

Its kind of like watching a good movie that is constantly interrupted by commercials every five minutes.

Yes, the extra info at the back is nice, but it wasn't written by King, and quite a bit of it doesn't reflect his own writing as much as the actual storyline does (although that continues to stray as more series are started - haven't read any of Jericho Hill yet). For me, I can imagine most of that stuff myself, or never thought about it in the first place, so the reading value of the hardcover is much more to me than the comics.

It's a little more pricey, but I suggest the route I've taken...I have both the comics and the hard covers-that way you have it all, so to speak. The regular issues can be picked up below cover price in many instances on Ebay-now the variant covers, that's a different animal. Save your dollars on buying the variants individually and get them in the HC grouping, coz some of the prices for single covers have just gone stupid...

I wasn't really sure what to expect with the comics. But they've been pretty good, and the art is amazing. I wonder where they'll go next, it seems like they're going to do the Gunslinger now. I also wonder if they'll somehow include the Little Sisters of Eluria...
