    I don't think it's necessary to do that. I didn't.

No worries...just enjoy. Reading one before the other will not lead to any spoilers that hurt. Happy Reading

nope....honestly, I did not get much out of Sisters that contributed to the DT. Descent story but seemed like a mere side note.

Nope, the short novel "The Little Sisters..." is a prequel to "The Gunslinger" and everything else is just mildly connected from what I understand. This is just what I've read though... I haven't started my Dark Tower journey.

I read Everythings Eventual before Dark Tower. I was not interested in tackling the DT series because it was so long. But after reading 'Little Sisters' in EE I knew I would love the Dark Tower series. I think both EE and DT can stand alone as great reads.

Dark Tower is really worth it, best that I have read of Stephen Kings books!!!

It's really not necessary. In fact, I would recommend not reading it until you've at least got the first Dark Tower book out of the way. "Little Sisters of Eluria," the story that ties in the most with the Dark Tower, though interesting, is a bit bland. And even though it is a prequel to the series, it is written as though the reader is already aware of the gunslinger Roland's quest. In other words, not a lot of information is given as to the overall story and Roland's character is not explored as much. "Little Sisters" in my opinion, would not be the optimal entry into the world of the gunslinger or his quest for the Tower.

The only other connections are so subtle that you would not really glean much from them. And there are not major spoilers one way or the other that I am aware of.

Actually, it was 'Little Sisters of Eluria' that made me first think about reading the DT series. Up to that point, I wasn't too interested. The premise didn't really do anything for me and the billing as 'Stephen King's take on LOTR' left me cold, since LOTR to me was overlong, a bit 'windbaggy' in places, and I had to work hard to get past the homo-erotic overtones in the relationship between Frodo and Sam.
Glad to say I was wrong about DT, though.

No need. It's nice having the cross references, but when it comes to the Dart Tower Mr. King really did offer you all the background info you need to get through the 7 volumes with no prior reading.

Read Everything Eventual anyway though. It's a fantastic book (and a great story).
