hmmm...set in the 80's and present day scarys me a bit. think if the movie Christmas Story was set in the 1980's, weird right?
Interesting. I hope they get someone good to play Pennywise.
I always catch anything with SK on it. Im sure it will be enjoyable at least. Is there any word that SK will be involved in pre-production?
I think Terrance Zdunich could be a good Pennywise/Bob Gray.
As for
Hi,
Yeah, moved up to the 80's and present day, and shoe-horned into a couple of hours?
I have my reservations!
Long days and pleasant nights
My understanding is that Steve won't be involved in the production.
Hmmmm....guess I'll have to wait and see this. Usually re-makes aren't all that good. Many times there's just nothing compared to the original!
Checked out the link (thanks, by the way) and this looks like a good sign to me:
"You have my promise, though, that I will do this with the utmost humility and respect for King's work. He's the King, after all, and I intend to continue to pledge to him my allegiance." Sounds like they really couldn't have hired a better writer for this."
Moving the time period makes sense. It was the present day when the book came out too, plus it's a lot less expensive (you just have to deal with creating one time-period instead of two). Also, changing it into essentially Bev being the main character is also the way to go, if you want to make the story shorter. It's always better to cut subplots than just cutting tiny bits off a story. Doesn't make it feel rushed.
How much I would love it, there probably will never be the ten-hour multi million dollar miniseries I (and many others) have dreamed of. But having a decent film adaptation is the best we can hope for.
