I watched the movie now three times ( two times in cinema) and it is one of the best movies based on a stephen king story. Cusack is brilliant. I really like the kind of horror in that movie. Just a really really good idea and the moviemakers did a great work with that movie. And as some others said everytime you watch it you love it a little bit more as before.

I thought the movie was alright, but pretty different from the story in terms of "feel".

The story was more contemplative and surreal, the movie more action based and closer to the horror formula. In terms of personal taste I prefer the former, just because the classic horror formula doesn't work as well without a clear antagonist. Not to there's no background to the antagonist!

I watched the movie for the second time over this weekend with my 15 year old son. I try not to compare a movie like this to the book because for me it's always better in writing. Comparing it to other movies in the same genre, however, I think it holds up very well. I agree with the positive comments about Cusack. After about the third time that weird guy with the knife appeared my son jumped and said "he's really getting annoying". I thought it was well done.

I loved the movie! It is a movie I can watch over and over again without it getting old! I still haven't read the book but I plan to! Last summer when we went to the beach we were talking about how weird it would be if we stayed in room 1408 and as soon as we got done talking about it the guy said your room is 1408, it was defintaly very spooky staying in there after seeing the movie!

Along side The Shining, 1408 is one of my favorite movies, the written story was even better. What never ceases to amaze me is how King gets us so wrapped up in some spectacle (Mike Enslin waving at himself) then side swipes us with terror (crazy clown guy with hammer) this technique of enthrallment then surprise is as effective on the page as it is in a movie and one of the reasons I enjoy Mr. King's stories so much.

I saw the movie first. I thought the story and the movie were both great.

The movie was brilliant. Great actors and great additions to the characters stories and the script. Although I have to admit, the movie had to add things to it to make me feel uneasy whereas King did it just with paintings.
