Just curious to what everyone's favorite short story collection is...

Different Seasons
Skeleton Crew
Four Past Midnight
Nightmares & Dreamscapes
Hearts in Atlantis
Everything's Eventual
Just After Sunset
Just curious to what everyone's favorite short story collection is...
Hi,
I think they all have something to be said in their favour, but I voted Night Shift purely because it was the first Sai King book I read and thus has a place in my heart (marvellous introduction too!) and I still think it's perhaps the most visceral of the collections.
Long days and pleasant nights
Damn, I hate it when I agree with JD. There's just NO fun to be had from that!
But, yes, NightShift gets my vote. I'm one of those "old school" types who thinks that the 1970's were SK in his prime.
Different Seasons though, gave us two incredible movie adaptations (Shawshank Redemption and Stand By Me), so it also holds a special place in my heart.
To me, it's Nightmares and Dreamscapes, just due to the number of classics in the collection. Honestly, how do you beat a collection with Umney's Last Case, The End of the Whole Mess, and The Night Flier?
Night Shift is my favourite (I haven't read them all, though). It started off poorly (Jerusalem's Lot) but after that the rest of the stories were top notch.
Hmmm... that's a tough one. I'd have to go with Nightmare's and Dreamscapes followed very closely by Just After Sunset.
I voted for Different Seasons, because three of the four stories in that volume are GREAT! The fourth (Breathing Method) isn't that bad, either, but is not up to the standard of the others.

I went with Night Shift because it was one the very first books I read by SK and I am very partial to it, however, I also love Different Seasons since it includes The Body which I love
Night Shift and Nightmares and Dreamscapes are amazing. I voted for N&D but now that I think of it Different Seasons is amazing...oh I don't know...lol I love em all!
One of my faves is definately Nightmares & Dreamscapes. It has a little of everything in it. Just After Sunset is very good too. Actually they are all great now that I think of it. lol
