Smile What a kind of book Blaze is?

I start to read Blaze next week and wonder what a kind of book Blaze is? Is it like Green Mile. Haven't read Green Mile. But I would like to hear your opinion of Blaze? Thanks.

    Hi,

Well, it's very tightly (even tersely) written, without a spare word.

And it will make you have sympathy for a character you wouldn't believe it possible to have, so it's a masterful piece of writing.

Quite a fast, Bachman, read, but I'm sure you'll thoroughly enjoy it and I'm looking forward to your thoughts after you've finished.

    Long days and pleasant nights

More like Of Mice and Men.

I enjoyed it very much. It offers a range of emotions from laughter to tears. Nice little novel IMO.

It made me cry, but I come by it pretty easily! It is a great story. You will have to let us know what you think!

Blaze was pretty good. And like John said, it's a tight story, where you get everything that is essential to the tale, and nothing more.

I thought it brought about sympathetic feelings for the main character, especially when the book delves into the flashbacks (which I thought were more interesting than the main story) My only real complaint is that there wasn't really a lot going on. It was rather simple and straightforward, in my opinion. I would have liked a little more complexity. Plus there weren't very many characters, and I thought that hurt the overall story.

I still recommend it, though. It's a bit different, but it was well worth it.

Blaze, in my opinion, is a masterpiece, the only good Richard Bachman book. If you were to read Of Mice and Men by John Steinback, you would get a feel for it--in fact, I suggest getting that book. It's relatively short, and, depending upon how fast you read, it should take you no more than a few hours. SK based the two main characters from Blaze--Blaze and George-of the characters from Steinbeck's novel--George and Lennie. The ending to Blaze, however, is sad. But it's a great read.

Yeah, I really liked Blaze. It is definitely different from other King novels as it isn't even close to "horror", and there aren't any supernatural elements to it. But all-in-all, a good read, and one I highly recommend.
