Carrie remake...

Well, I watched the remake of Carrie or rather dvr'd it and watched it so i could ff the commercials.
I really don't know how I feel about the remake. In some parts I really like and in some I detested.
I will say that the girl who played Carrie did a hell of a job. The actress playing her mother missed the mark for me sad to say, because she is such a great actress!
In all honesty I didn't even know they did a remake. Was this a sci-fi channel stand alone remake or was it distributed world wide? I don't see how this one slipped under the radar.
Anywho, I would recommend watching it. The ending is pretty good...Carrie does lay waste to the town as in the book, but the very end...gah..I won't waste my time telling you about.
Anyone else see it? Did you like it? HATE it? Or was it somewhere in the middle of the road like for me?

I agree with you. I love the original, but the one thing the remake definitely had over it was that she destroyed the town like she did in the book, making the remake a more complete adaptation to the screen. Of course I'm not sure you could get any better than Piper Laurie as Carrie's mom in the original. Talk about one SCARY lady!!!!

(maybe glenn close at her worst in Fatal Attraction comes close)

I knew they made Carrie 2 but apparently this is a remake of the original? What was it made for TV or an actual in theatre remake?

I agree I think the Brian de Palma version is in a class of its own,based on an excellent book of course.

I liked it because it was more to the book. The book was written in all interviews from the characters. Granted Sissy Spacek Was Carrie but the movie did not give the story justice. They had to put boulders falling out of the sky in Rose Red, many people didn't know that as a baby Carrie did the same thing when her mother smacked her.
