I got my copy while I was serving over seas in Afghanistan. The little PX on my post had one copy and my entire platoon read it and it's destroyed but worth every page.

Hey, Moe. I loved 'Salem's Lot. I read it first as an impressionable 14-year-old, and it stayed with me...and stayed with me.
I believe in recycling books, so I found my hardcover copy of 'Salem's Lot at a really great used bookstore in Burbank that specializes in horror. It's called Dark Delicacies and has a website - and if you don't find what you're looking for in their search engine, it automatically kicks you to a place where it's available. I love supporting mom-n-pop shops like DD, and its owners are very knowledgeable.
You might also want to check out the used copies section of Amazon.com. I've had mostly excellent experiences with the used books I've bought through them, in particular my copies of The Tommyknockers and The Talisman. Both were/are in excellent condition. The only downside was my copy of Different Seasons: it was described as having "a little wear on the dust jacket", but arrived without one altogether. I didn't make a big stink about it because the book is otherwise in very good condition.
I have always had luck with eBay. I have bought all but 10 remaining SK novels there in two large lot orders. Overall, the novels have been a good shape. Just keep your eyes open and you will easily find almost anything edition on amazon or ebay.
The local Books-a-Million has about 5 or 6 copies of Salem's Lot. What I cannot find is the illustrated edition. But I do seem to look for things the hard way. I bet I could find it on ebay; as well as the long lost Mr. Hoffa.

I would definitely suggest to look on eBay. I actually found an original edition that was still sealed, and for a normal prize too.
