Hi,
In the midst of these squalid and tawdry tales of greed and corruption that British politics finds itself mired in we have the opportunity to at least register our disapproval of the status quo by voting in the election of members of the European Parliament tomorrow (Thursday 4th).
The discredited Westminster government have consistently attempted to play down the importance of the European elections (for obvious reasons) but the EU are responsible for some 84% (debatable) of legislation which affects US directly nowadays.
There is a great danger IMO of a very low turnout indeed on Thursday and I hope everyone here will exercise their democratic rights and VOTE!
Under the very complex system of proportional representation by which these votes will be counted NO vote will be wasted and minority parties like the Greens (and the BNP - boo!) should be well represented at the expense of the major parties whose collusion in this expenses fiasco would be laughable if it weren't so obscene.
I believe England and Wales also have local government elections as well, and the Scottish Nationalist dimension obviously affects things differently up here, but whatever you do, whoever you choose, DON'T waste your vote!
Vote for change tomorrow, we sorely need it!
Long days and pleasant nights
