Default If you're British VOTE tomorrow!

    Hi,

In the midst of these squalid and tawdry tales of greed and corruption that British politics finds itself mired in we have the opportunity to at least register our disapproval of the status quo by voting in the election of members of the European Parliament tomorrow (Thursday 4th).

The discredited Westminster government have consistently attempted to play down the importance of the European elections (for obvious reasons) but the EU are responsible for some 84% (debatable) of legislation which affects US directly nowadays.

There is a great danger IMO of a very low turnout indeed on Thursday and I hope everyone here will exercise their democratic rights and VOTE!

Under the very complex system of proportional representation by which these votes will be counted NO vote will be wasted and minority parties like the Greens (and the BNP - boo!) should be well represented at the expense of the major parties whose collusion in this expenses fiasco would be laughable if it weren't so obscene.

I believe England and Wales also have local government elections as well, and the Scottish Nationalist dimension obviously affects things differently up here, but whatever you do, whoever you choose, DON'T waste your vote!

Vote for change tomorrow, we sorely need it!

    Long days and pleasant nights

What scares me the most about the way British politics is at the moment is that people will mistakenly vote for parties like the BNP and other far right groups thinking that they will make a difference. The last thing we need is members of the BNP in Europe what with all the far right parties they have over there.

I will be voting tomorrow and probably for Lib Dems =P As the other 2 parties..... well do I need to say?

Sorry - I might be british but that is precisely why I dont live there any more. Society in england does't care unless theres something in it for them , I mean physiclly rewarding like their own wealth and are to shortsighted to see the long term benefits of putting in some effort. Its not anarchy rules but apathy.

I agree 100 per cent and will be voting tomorrow. I only just managed to get a polling card after moving. It came with an interesting letter saying my application to vote has been considered and 'I have decided to allow' What what what, I was notifying of a change of address not asking if I was allowed to vote. I was under the impression women had that right these days.

Hey, you guys can vote over there? Cool beans. I'm glad I don't live in England though. I can't imagine living in a country where you could be jailed for insulting your figurehead leader. Well, dunno if they do that there, but...

We came to America because we wanted to be able to publish any news story. We didn't want our news sent to the government first, to have them proofread and/or decide if it should even be allowed to be printed. We also wanted to have weapons to protect ourselves. If some nutbag sneaks into my home and it wakes me up, I need to live in a country where I have a right to blast their hand off with a shotgun, and then decide if I should call the police now, or the meat wagon 45 minutes from now.

So VOTE! Vote for freedom! Say you want rifles! I mean COME ON, what if ZOMBIES ATTACK!?!?!? Haven't you ever seen Shaun of the Dead?

    Hi,

Well, I certainly hope it's the Day of the Dead for Britain's incestuous two party system.

I could certainly see them Flocking far enough!

    Hi,

Well, I've registered my vote but apparently we have to wait until Sunday night for the European results, although the English council results will be in tomorrow afternoon.

    Hoping for heads rolling willy-nilly!

Hope all goes well and as John said that heads will roll...thought only us in the
US had all these scandals and shady politicians. Growing up in the 60's I tend to
never trust anyone in govt. but that is just my jaded outlook.
