My grandmother's creamed chicken is to both live and die for. If I told you the recipe, I'd have to kill ya...
(Really, I'll put it in this thread when I find it...)
It always comes down to a double cheese burger, a large order of fries, and a vanilla milk shake. Other than ham and cheese sandwiches, that's been my mainstay since I was a eleven years old.
Take an onion and dice it. Saute it in a deep pot in some veggie oil. Add a tablespoon of paprika (the sweet kind). Stir. When the onions are almost done, add the chicken pieces and stir. Fry for about ten minutes or so until parts start to cook, turning the pieces over often. Almost cover it with water, and simmer until chicken is done. Add some salt to taste.
In a bowl, mix a couple of cups of sour cream (not the light kind) with a couple of heaping tablespoons of flour until smooth. Stir it into the mess in the pot until it's combined really well. Turn the heat down and cook for another five or ten minutes until it is hot again. It makes the best gravy.
Serve over mashed spuds or moli (kind of a johnny cake corn bread thing).
That’s a tough one. It’s hard to choose from so many excellent meals, but I’d say the best meal I ever had was the filet I had at the Ruth’s Criss Steakhouse. Best steak I ever had.
I love home made potatoe salad with steak. But since I hate to cook meat (it's..icky) I usually make chickpea-stew instead. Dice an onion, let it fry a little, add canned baby tomatoes, oregano, garlic, and chick peas. Let it cook for a couple of minutes, then add some feta cheese and stir, so it gets a little melted.
Yummy!
jerk chicken, peas and rice, and plantain with ginger beer
carne asada burrito with cheese, guacamole, sour cream, pico de gallo, jalepenos, whole beans
steak and potatoes and a salad with blue cheese dressing
barbequed chicken with black eyed peas, greens, potato salad and sweet potato pie
I love anything cooked and eaten around the campfire. Weenie roast, smores, suckling pig.......mmmmmm.
Slow smoked brisket and smoked sausage and Wal Mart brand 'original style' tater salad and a big glass of iced tea (with crushed ice). Just make sure you takes yer Lipitor first.
Or anything at Waffle House after a long night of playing "get messed up after last call with the strippers"! Oh, to be 20 again......
