I only did a cursory search to find another thread because I'm sure this has been discussed many times before, but none popped up which is why I'm posting this in a new thread.
Hi,
Welcome to the MB, and keep posting!
Without knowing what you've read already it's difficult to know what to suggest; my personal favourite is Lisey's Story, but I'd recommend The Stand (Uncut) or IT if you want a long book.
If you prefer short stories all the collections are very good but my personal favourites are Night Shift and Skeleton Crew.
And the Dark Tower cycle (starting with The Gunslinger and Drawing of the Three) is truly marvellous.
Long days and pleasant nights
Favorite books actually! The Dark Tower Series. Start with the Gunslinger.
Ms Mod, there's one in Survey says.
Veronica, it would help if you told us which books you have read already. Plus, we will tend to make a huge list (there are over 50 books) recommending which books to read. Try this thread, as well:

Hi and welcome!
My favorite is Gerald's Game. As far as why it's my favorite, I guess because it's a different perspective and more, at least for me, of a psychological horror than Sai King usually writes. With there really only being one primary character you're able to concentrate more on that one person and put your self in their situation.
I would recommend IT. The novel is a mammoth in size, but it is never bloated. The characters will grow on you. They seriously become friends. The plot is also wildly gripping and Derry will be your second home. It really is fantastic. I would also recommend Salem's Lot, Duma Key, The Green Mile, and Dolores Claiborne.
Well the Stand is my favourite - but if you havent read Stephen King before its a VERY long book - (which is all the better for it!)
But I would try one of his more straight forward stories to start off with - the earliest one I read was Salems Lot, its a great story and not as "complicated" as his later stuff.
Actually a good book to read is "Four past midnight" as it has four novellas in it - all really good stories!
I'd have to say Dark Tower IV: Wizard and Glass (hate the title), but that's not really helpful...even though it CAN stand alone, it would be a better bookgasm if you read the DT series in order.
