    Question Pet Peeves

I like to think of myself as a relatively tolerant person. I understand that most people are not actively trying to harm others. Still, certain people (and things) bug me.

This morning, as I was driving to work, the guy in the truck in front of me rolled down his window and tossed his cigarette butt. Littering is a big pet peeve of mine, and littering cigarette butts is a big big pet peeve. There's no valid rationale for it whatsoever; it's pure selfishness. If you want to smoke, smoke. Heck, wear a loin cloth made of fermented tobacco leaves. Inject pharmacy-grade nicotine into your eyeballs, if that's how you get your chuckles. But keep it to yourself.

What are people thinking when they throw crap (butts and otherwise) out of their cars? "I've got to leave a trail so I can find my way back." "This road, it's nice, but it's just missing something ... I know: TRASH." Or maybe just "screw you, planet Earth!" It's enough to make Woodsy Owl hole up in his secret lair, planning revenge and/or weeping uncontrollably.

    Anyone else?

I agree with you. I can't stand seeing trash everywhere. I don't understand why it's so hard to wait until you can throw something in a dumpster or trash can.

I go to Walt Disney World a lot and I'm amazed every time I go. They placed trash cans about 22 feet apart because they found that to be the longest distance people were willing to hold an empty cup or and ice cream stick. There's still trash laying around.

Around the bases of dumpsters you can see trash where somebody threw their trash in, missed, and didn't find it worth their time to go back and pick up the things that didn't make it.

At one of my jobs we would have people change their babies diapers in our dressing room and leave the dirty diapers behind for us to deal with. Unbelievable.

The elevator at Bgr. airport serves only 2 floors. When I am waiting for any elevator, I
stand to the side, I think it only makes sense to let people that are on the elevator get out first before entering (although I've seen others stand right in front of it waiting to get on). The other day, I was in the elevator going down to 1'st floor. The doors began to open and before they finished, a lady with a mighty cotton candy hairdo barged (and I mean Barged) on right in front of where I was and hit the button to go up to 2'nd floor. At the same time She said to me, " Are you going up?" Talk about jumping to conclusions Lady!

    Hi guys.

Todash i agree with you strongly on this matter, littering of any form has always been one of my biggest pet peeves. Especially when there happens to be a a bin (or dumpster) close by, pure laziness IMO.

Another thing i seriously can't tolerate is spitting. People are just walking down the street and they spit all over the floor, disgusting. I was once inside a big shopping centre and a guy spat on the floor...indoors!! I always wonder what their homes must be like if they find this kind of behaviour acceptable.

    Hi,

    Very old limerick -

'There was a young man from Darjeeling
Who took a bus down to Ealing
    It said on the wall
'Do not spit on the floor'
So he stood up and spat on the ceiling'

No racism implied, it's very old.

    Long days and pleasant nights

    John,

There once was a barmaid from Wales
Who on her breasts had the prices of ales
    And on her behind
    To benefit the blind
Were tattooed those same prices in Braille

Being coughed on, spit on, or sneezed on. Also, when someone on the bus falls asleep and their head winds up on your shoulder! A stranger on my shoulder! Possible exception: if that sleeping person is an angel. But who carries angelic credentials on a public bus?

Well, of course I agree on the littering part, but I am really, really tired of the campaign against smokers.

So, so many things are wrong in this world, but latley it looks like it`s the biggest crime ever if you light up a ciggie.

Everybody tells me that it`s bad for me, that I am going to die from cancer, and blah, blah, blah...but, when I tell somebody that he/she is FAT and that it wouldn`t be bad if they loose a few pounds coz that`s not exactly healthy for them either, then they call me a racist, fashist and whatnot.

I see a lot of friggin buger wraps on the street as well...just as many as ciggie butts.

Being near someone who is overweight is not going to affect your health, just theirs. That's the issue and why there are bans on smoking in public places. Yup, non-smoker and always have been. If someone wants to smoke, that's their business but I don't want to be exposed to it.

Who said someone is standing next to me when I`m smoking ?

I don`t smoke near anyone, I always walk out of the buidling, or smoke on the balcony, don`t smoke in cars or whatever.

I am making sure that I am not affecting anybodys health, but people still feel the need to patronize me nevertheless.

Hence, when I tell certain individuals that their health is in danger coz they are fat, I get in trouble once again.

See, even you can`t say "fat ", you say " overweight "..politically incorrect, huh ?

But calling me a "cancergiver " ( not you, but peeps do ) is absolutely ok...
