I really REALLY loved this book. I wouldn't want to give any of it away.
So, like everyone else said: READ IT!![]()

What ever you do DO NOT WATCH THE MOVIE.
I liked this book too. I would suggest reading it without looking at what its about. I find that reading a book when you don't know what it's about is more satisfying.
Bryan knows what he's talking bout. for me read the book, then time went on, movie came out, and actually wasnt disappointed, best you could do without complications.
but the book, is sth that you really should experience by reading. cuz this one really made me feel emotions.... sth that very few books are written well enough to do to me.
but I wont say its the greatest book ever written in the history of mankind, cuz to each his own, and if you go into it expecting heaven and it falls short, you'll hate it.
dont think, just step into it, its good.
The book is really good, especially because the different stories are all somehow intertwined. Don't make the mistake and judge the book by the movie version. Hopkins is great of course, but the film only deals with the longest of the stories, "Low Men in yellow Coats." (I never understood why they didn't name it accordingly.)
When you're done with it, I suggest you read Black House next, apart from the DT novels, of course. You should finish with the new Kindle story, UR, which is a nice postscript to the whole thing.
Just my opinion though.
Dirk.
Hi.
Definitely read the book, I am sure you will enjoy it. As previously mentioned all of the stories are intertwined by various characters, although each story in itself stands alone very well. I have read HIA a few times now and i never tire of it....i am a bit of a geek though.
Yeah, I thought the film was OK...BUT I was glad I'd read the book first.
And you live and learn: I never thought of this as a story collection before. I just took it as one story, tbh. Though with the interweaving between characters and times, I can see why it might be a collection (what? 9-10 years after first reading it?).
