I have a bunch of pristine Stephen King titles. At first glance including the publishing number string on many such as 1 3 5 7 9 10 8 6 4 2 which I would interpret to be first printing. The problem I am running into is that there is no price on the dust jacket. Even though they are from the original publisher, people are telling me that these are not first editions but book club editions since the price is not present. Also, I am having trouble identifying the edition information on the older titles up to about 1987 or so since there is no specific information given. Also, is a first trade edition considered a first edition if published along with those signed and numbered copies by other publishers?

    Welcome to the board Jomartin.

Those that have informed you that Book Club editions (BCE) do not carry the price on the dust jacket are correct. This is one of the easiest ways to spot a BCE. This rule is not set in stone for all publishers, for example University presses often do not price the inside flap of the jacket. There are other signs that a book may be a BCE--one is the size, often the BCE is smaller than the original publishers--two is some have a blind stamp on the back covered board, rarely but sometimes it may also be found on the front.
