John Coffey?
Mother Abigail?
Mike Hanlon?
SK a racist?
If that statement wasn`t sad, I`d laugh.
But it is sad, so I don`t laugh.

I believe the answer lies in the 'why' King has been so successful in the first place, and that is because he tells the truth when he writes. Whether it's about how people act, or how they talk, he tells the truth. A lot of people don't respect that for some reason.
I agree, a great writer is honest. As an amateur writer, I have written a story about the murder of black man in 1955. A 17-year-old kid solves the murder in 1985 with the help of Red Dog, which was the man’s Basset hound. Red was killed the same night; however, his ghost appears to Brandon and guides him to solve this murder that occurred 30 years prior. In dialog, the N word is used, and I am far from racist; I have had to live with it my whole life. Mississippi is the racist state (in my opinion) and I despise any racism or prejudice, and frankly, I am tired of all the hate, violence and racism. I have close friends that are Gay, HIV positive, black, Asian, American Indian, Hindu, and yes even Muslim….I do not stereotype, because I know exactly how it feels to be stereotype, and it SUCKS.
Garriga
Gotta admit though, Gordie LaChance has some issues. Racist? Naw...but overweight people now...in SK lit? Lard ass anyone?
