Sometime around 2004, SK won an award (from the American Writers Guild?) and gave an acceptance speech that was posted verbatum to his website. In this speech he talked about how contemporary horror writers were finally getting recognition and accolades-- he mentioned Peter Straub, Clive Barker, Dean Koontz, and James Patterson as examples of popular prolific writers that were either deserved credit despite the stigma traditionally associated with mainstream horror/mystery writers.
Does this ring a bell to anyone, and if so, can you find or direct me to a site that might still have this speech on record? I need this for an English paper my 14 year-old daughter is doing on an author who has "changed the world."
I am new to this forum, and don't know how to look for your response.
