Just want peoples thoughts on the recent flu that hit Mexico reminds me of The Stand alittle but it's not Super Flu hope everyone had a good weekend
How strange ... I just posted to another swine flu thread, but now the whole thread is gone. Anyway, here's how I answered the basically "is this the Stand?" question:
I don't think so. There are 20 confirmed cases in the US so far, and no deaths. It's susceptible to antiviral drugs. Yes, it's potentially a big deal, but not likely of Stand-like proportions, although it has been 40 years since the last flu pandemic, so we're probably due.
OTOH, in Mexico, 1300 people have the swine flu and 81 are dead, a fatality rate of about six percent. The Spanish flu pandemic of 1918 had a 2.5% fatality rate. That could be misleading since there may be milder cases that aren't being tracked (so that the death rate would be much lower), but you would think that that would have been the case in 1918 as well (people getting sick but not sick enough to realize they have the flu or to report it). Of course, Mexico City has horrid air quality. That can't help.
Anyway, it's best to take precautions. Wash your hands frequently, blah blah blah. And STAY HOME if you think you're sick. I do think something like this could get bad in the US because we are all run, run, run, can't miss work, work so important, get the kids to soccer and dance, blah blah.
I believe it was cultured in lab.
Thank goodness it's not Superflu. My prayers and thoughts to protect us from the swine flu.

Swine Flu Spreads to New York, Canada, Ohio as U.S. Travel Remains Unrestricted
There is already speculation that this swine flu strain may have been engineered in a laboratory. While NaturalNews does not yet agree with this assessment, this is without question a possibility that needs to be considered. There is already some evidence that the H1N1 genetic code has somehow been assembled from three species (bids, pigs and humans) spanning three different continents. The "natural" occurrence of such a combination seems extremely remote, although not impossible.

I hope they decide to restrict air travel before it's too late. The horror that was the Stand cannot happen., will not happen, please God don't let it happen.![]()
Over-population of our planet is definitely a hot topic these days.
A few genetically engineered viruses to separate the strong from the weak, and to substantially reduce our numbers, may be seen, in future centuries, as the masterstroke that saved our species and spared our dwindling resources.
Of course, I say this as one of the strong. If you're one of the weak, my sympathies.![]()
here is a mashup using google that is keeping track of where etc...
click here --than i suggest u click skip the ad in the upper right corner and u will see a world map with google tacs on it --click on the tac and u can get info on where who etc...

Don't think this strain of swine flu has the communicability of Captain Tripps, thank goodness, however nothing of this sort should every be taken lightly. Director or Spokesman for the CDC yesterday stating that depending on future developments perhaps a seed for vaccine might be started, however with a virus it is very difficult to treat. They mainly have to run their course, although there are always precautions you can take.
Could have been engineered in a lab, but I don't think so.
I knew someone would start a thread on this last night, so I didn'tI'm glad to see it's being discussed.
I'm glad this virus seems to respond to our anti-flu medications, that will help a lot. At least in countries with the wealth and infrastructure to distribute them. The US government has freed up 12 million rounds of Tamiflu from the federal stockpile, so that's a good sign.
I'm curious to see where this goes...
