So I'm reading 'IT' again, and I got to the part about the fire at the Black Spot....Dick Hollaran was there! Assuming others have noticed this, I'm wondering if it's the same Dick or just a slip on mr. King forgetting he'd used this name before. ?

I think it's the same.
pretty sure dick is a returnable, bdenbrough. there's a pile of 'em in sk's bag.![]()
No, it's not a slip up. It's the same Dick Hollaran from the Shining. Stephen King does have cameos of characters from other books a bit.
It's been some time since I read IT, but King does like to introduce characters from his other novels into various books. It's one of the things I really like about his work. It makes his fictitious world seem more realistic. Also, it's great fun when you spot one of these connections so it's worth paying close attention when reading one of his novels.
SO cool. I just got back into reading King, so I'll look forward to some more cameos.....Sue Snell anyone???? lol, just kidding
It's definitely one of my favorite connections as both books are among my King favorites. It's one of the many things that makes his universe vast and his mythology strong.
on a side note, doesnt some kid in the book talk about a mentally slow kid names Tom? same one from The Stand? i think its the bit where Bill meets the kid on the skateboard (when hes an adult)
umm no i dont think so. the skateboard kid says that Tom saw a shark in the canal, i think.
