what i've read so far hasnt been disgusting. although fightclub had a couple of gross things. but i do agree that his books are awesome.
Thanks for the reference, and I think I recognize the name.
Is there good STORY or just "I wore the front of her skull as a codpiece (secured with duct tape) as I sauntered through the buffet line at the Golden Corral. Some of the children looked at me, but they were all reassured by my smile. They tore back into their macaroni and cheese with as much gusto as I had pulped that woman's skull and eaten hot human three hours before. I didn't want to be greedy though. That's one of the Seven Deadlies. I wanted to share. I made sure I dropped a few pieces of brain here and there over the buffet, taking extra precautions to scatter the macaroni and cheese with the rest of what I had in the Ziploc. It blended in well. It was Saturday night, and there were a lot of hungry children. Don't bring a lollipop to the party unless you have one to give out to everyone."
Sick is fine, there's a market for that, just not for me. Add some story and I'm game.
Do I like disgusting stuff? Not by itself. The above is sick, and I just wrote it, but if there's some kinda supporting SOMETHING...something that makes it more than just retarded perversity, then OK. Sick for sick's sake is suck.
Give me a side dish. Macaroni and Cheese is fine.

Oh man, I love chuck.
I have read Survivor, Choke and Fight Club.
All three were great books and I can't wait for the films.
Over the weekend, I considered the original post and my response...and I saw that I had given myself a personal "sicko writing exercise challenge thingy."
It's not long, but it took me three days to write it, because I could only stand to think on it for maybe an hour each day.
It is an expanded (2.5 page) version of what I'd previously improvised (above).
I made the mistake of showing it to my 65 year old Mom. I gave her three separate warnings that it was sick--unlike all the other things I'd written and let her read. I even folded it in half and taped it shut...but she had to open Pandora's Box.
It made her puke several times and now she's barely speaking to me, even the day after.
I need to go up in my attic and find my copy of "American Psycho" and say "Hey Mom, I read this in high school, you might like it."
Seriously, it was hard writing it, but sometimes you just have to test yourself and "break on through to the other side." It wasn't such a fun place to be.
If anyone wants a free copy--I don't know how that works around here--send me a message.

no not disgusting like that!!! like theres this one book called haunted and theres several authors trapped in this house and not allowed to leave until they write something for the person who is holding them captive, so theres one story about this kid who goes "pearl diving" in the pool, and his butt gets stuck to the pool filter and all his insides get sucked out and then it goes on to talk about him as an adult and how he only has like 6 inches of intestine left, or something..... so no its not just sick for sick's sake, its really really good reading!!!![]()
Palahniuk's Haunted is supposed to be one of the most disgusting books out there. I wasn't too shocked by it, but it was good.
I've read Invisible Monsters, Diary, and Haunted. I didn't find any of them too disgusting, I really liked Diary. I started Choke and had to stop, just didn't/couldn't get into it. I'll try some other time.
Thnx!! I am gonna read a book of chuck palahniuk when Im done with the one I am reading now!! Heard great things about his novels from some other people too! (and I'm a huge fan of the movie fightclub).
