Default Stephen King's 2005 commencement address

I just thought this was interesting to read so I posted a link to it since its too long to post here. Plus its somewhat timely I think with spring semester coming to an end. My only question is that with the upcoming new Dan Brown release later this year, should any of these students be worried?

While I agree with King's assessment of Dan Brown, I just think it's interesting that a successful author who describes his own work as the equivilant of a big mac and fries equates another successful author's work with Kraft's Mac and Cheese. SK is a trillion times more talented than Dan Brown at putting together an English sentence (actually, I'm not sure Dan Brown has proven that he can do that), but I wonder if SK feels any envy for all the hype that Dan Brown gets.

I guess I just found this interesting.

Once again it shows the man knows how to write and mostly he lives by his words.

That was one of the best commencement speeches I've ever heard. The basic address was available online (the same one cwalrus linked to) but I transcribed the actual spoken version word for word, for myself and a friend. (He actually missed one of his bullet-points somewhere in there, perhaps edited out for length and whatnot.) At the time I was stuck out of Maine and was terribly unhappy with my circumstances. He made me want to get back so badly it hurt. (I cried.) But a really, really good and heartfelt speech I thought.
