Is this that boy-in-the-wilderness Hatchet? My kids were forced to read this book in school and despised it. Of course, these are kids who couldn't survive if I dumped them in a vacant lot next to a Skippers, so take that for what it's worth.

    I haven't personally read it.

I read it a long time ago. Pretty good read. There's about 4 sequels to it I believe,

It was a decent book, I remember that we read it in the 6th grade or so.

I really want to read these books. Anything to do with having to survive without "modern conveniences" is something I want to read or watch.

When my children were required to read Hatchet in school, I read it too. I really enjoyed it, they hated it! Although it's a middle-school level book, it's my belief that an adult would enjoy it more than a kid. Another book like this is "The Giver"-definitely recommend that one!
