Dark Tower thesis paper

Hey there,

I should have signed up and posted here a long time ago but apparently I'm not that smart. I've been writing my undergraduate honours thesis on the Dark Tower and was wondering if anyone else on here has used it for literary purposes. My thesis is so cool. You know how in the new intros King says that he deliberately set out to write an epic, his "magnum opus." Well, my thesis is to prove the Dark Tower an actual epic by comparing the traditional conventions of epic using Beowulf and The Lord of the Rings with the series. Then I set up the non-traditional characteristics that the Dark Tower uses , which are used in other modern epics like Paradise Lost and The Waste Land.

Anyway, its awesome. I'm almost finished, have to submit it next week, so I hope that I get a response from someone who has thought of the connections. That would be cool.

I want to write my masters thesis on King too. I want to do something compltely crazy and compare William Blake's epic poem Milton with the Dark Tower by approaching it from the angle of the prophetic author and metafiction. Yeah, I'm a bit of a geek. haha

What an interesting thesis! I don't really have any thoughts, since I'm currently reading the series for the first time, but I do hope you'll share your finished paper with all of us.
