Question I have some great ideas

I am a dreamer. Not in the abstact sense, but in the literal, I dream very vividly, and generally recall the bulk of the stories from my dreams. They are not all horror, but I still think this is the place to ask. I have read over 30 novels and short story collections of Stephen Kings, and my respect of your opinion spreads from my appreciation of your vantage point. I have some great ideas for original stories, I just don't know what to do with them. I am a father of 3, husband, and full time employee, so I don't have to time to sit down and pen very much of it. What can I do with these stories and plot ideas???

Write them down when you can find time! If you remember them then they are probably interesting stories.

Welcome to the board and keep posting!

    Hi.
For starters, you could post a little more here on the board and than you will get the privilege to join the Social groups, and there is one for writers.

Join that, write a couple storys down and see where that leads you...

write down the idea and when you have time (although it may not be often, try to set aside half an hour to write) you should start writing, one word at a time..

Actually, I kind of feel like I'm in the same boat. I have lots of ideas, but little time to work with them. I've never heard anyone else say that before!

I'm trying to keep track of the ideas, because I figure someday these kids will have to grow up and go to college, and their education will no longer be MY responsibility. Don't get me wrong, I love homeschooling, but it sure sucks up your time!

    Thanks TrueKingFan

Buy a small digital recorder and when you wake up speak your dreams and ideas onto it, for future refrence. Plus you can record while doin' other stuff, or while on the way to work, etc.... Just a thought.

Ever think of a recording device? If you don't have time you could start your story(s) and when you have to go back you could relisten and continue and when you have time you could listen and type at the same time. Maybe give it a try.

    Great call, Frizz.

I keep pen and paper handy on both my bedside tables. Sometimes I get one side, sometimes I get the other, but dangit only once have I gotten the middle.

Anyway, I've had some gravy 3 a.m. dream thoughts...and I knew I had the pen and paper ready, but I knew I'd remember the whole shebang at 6 a.m.

You know how that turns out...no clue other than a phantom of coolness that's left me forever.

The digital voice recorder idea is perfect.

At the very least you'll get a good laugh at yourself a few times a month when you review your sleepytime gibberish.

    I'm getting one this weekend.

I think I will go with the voice recorder. As it stands, I basically regale my wife with tales from my brain first thing in the morning. That is really the only way I can recall the dreams at all is by spitting them out first thing. So since I am already in the habit, I will go that route. It would probably be easier than trying to read my already sloppy handwriting from 4:30am. I don't feel like opening my eyes, and the recorder makes that a reality

When I was younger, I used to write all my dreams down. It got to the point where I had about 20 binders full. I haven't written any dreams down in quite a while now, but I may start again. It's interesting reading your dreams years later.
